Man accused of torching Midtown rooming house also accused of attempted murder

On the morning of Friday January 8th in Niagara Falls City Court, Jerome Wingfield was arraigned on charges of: Attempted Murder 2nd degree, Assault 1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree
The charges placed today resulted from an investigation into the shooting of victim, Darius Washington on December 7th, 2015 at 8:05 pm in the 200 block of 22nd St in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Washington was hit by several bullets which struck him in both legs, his hip, abdomen and groin area. Washington spent several weeks in ECMC receiving treatment for his injuries.
Wingfield was already in police custody after being arrested on January 2nd for the arson that occurred at 1967 Niagara St. on the night of January 1st
Wingfield is being held without bail.
