2015 was the hottest year on record, new data say
2015 was Earth’s hottest year on record, according to new data released today by NOAA and NASA.
The average surface temperature across the globe was 58.47 Fahrenheit, a seemingly small but significant 0.23-degree increase from 2014’s previous record, experts said.
The new numbers confirm long-term warming trends predicted by scientists, and were almost certainly caused in part by human activities, researchers said.
