Marsha McWilson will sing at the “Christmas Tour of Nations” celebration

This Saturday, Dec. 1, from 1pm to 3pm, Marsha McWilson will sing at What’s The Point Ministries, 409 Plain St., in Lewiston, NY, as part of their “Christmas Tour of Nations” celebration. McWilson is known internationally for her spot-on Etta James impersonation, though she offers much more as an all-around performer and entertainer.

Marsha McWilson is a New York State certified minority and women-owned business enterprise doing business as “Mrs. Marsha’s Life Lessons.”

A native of Niagara Falls, NY, she’s the 12th child of Roger and Pauline Walker. They were married 55 years, and Marsha recently celebrated her own 25th wedding anniversary. She and her husband Howard have two sons– Jaylan, a graduate of Niagara Catholic (where Marsha helped raise $30K), and Cameron, currently in his junior year at Niagara Falls High.

Marsha herself is a graduate of Niagara Falls High as well as Marion’s School of Cosmetology. For 30 years, she has owned and ran McWilson House of Beauty. For her work in the community, she has received numerous awards from organizations like the Niagara Falls Housing Authority, the Niagara Community Center Assoc., Inc. African American Festival, and a proclamation from the Office of the Mayor of Niagara Falls for her volunteer work and dedication to breast cancer awareness. In addition, she and her husband were awarded Parents of the Year awards twice from the Niagara Falls school district.

A licensed, ordained minister under the leadership of Zion Dominion Global Ministries for nearly two decades, Marsha is also a noted international performer, having sung on cruise ships, and, recently, acted on national television under the direction of Tyler Perry on the Oprah network. She has organized, sang at, and emceed several concerts involving Gospel and Blues music both locally and nationally, including the Niagara Falls Blues Fest’s “Gospel Brunch” series.

Marsha is a certified motivational speaker trained by Les Brown. With the intent to stay close-to-home to raise her sons, Marsha developed “Mrs. Marsha’s Life Lessons,” which she began to impart to young people in schools under a grant through the Niagara Falls Housing Authority for the last six years. Marsha speaks in Western New York-area elementary, middle and high schools, offering practical advice on social skills and more. She continues to reach young people with a message of hope, help and encouragement.
