Independent Living of Niagara County can help YOU register to vote!
If you’ve been intending to register so you can vote in the November General Election, but haven’t gotten around to it and you’re going to be in Niagara Falls, New York on Tuesday September 27, 2016, Independent Living of Niagara County (ILNC) is participating in National Voters Registration Day.
Just drive or walk to the Parking Lot of the Haeberle Plaza, 746 Portage Road, north of Pine Avenue (between Rite Aid and Arby’s), from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the 27th. If you’ve never registered, or have not voted in the last four years, or have moved, you need to register in order to vote!
Volunteers from the ILNC Public Policy Committee will have registration forms at tables in the lot, and can assist you in completing and signing the forms. If you have difficulty leaving your vehicle, a form will be brought to you. There is NO CHARGE for this service; ILNC will save you the postage to submit it by sending your completed form to the County Board of Elections that is appropriate to your address. Once it confirms that you will be at least 18 years old by November 8th, and your residency status, your Board will send you a postcard with the location of the polling place for your Election District.

The fourth Tuesday of September was set for National Voters Registration Day (NVRD) by a resolution of the National Association of Secretaries of State. They were responding to concerns that some six million Americans could not vote in the 2008 General Election due to missed registration deadlines, or lack of familiarity with registration procedures in their area. Thousands of volunteers from local grass roots organizations across the nation will be in public places and at events directing inquires for local drives through social media.
