Chiropractors Are Revolutionizing The Way We Think About Wellness

When you’re tired of being sick, go see Dr. Mark Del Monte.

Sometimes we want the quick fix – the feel better now but pay later approach that has characterized much of modern medicine and led to a culture of over-drugging patients that often exacerbates, prolongs, and compounds problems.

Those who insist that there is a better way are often seen as rebels, trouble makers, round pegs in square holes – who dare to question the most respected and moneyed profession of our day. They insist that the field of medicine is entirely wrong and that we should instead treat the underlying cause of problems rather than simply treating symptoms.

There is profound brilliance – even beauty – in that assertion: that wellness is a normative state and that the objective of treatment should correct the root of bodily dysfunction. Too much of medicine, they say, is about the momentary relief of pain and the ongoing sale of dangerously addictive drugs (often with harmful side effects that are damaging in the long term). More cynical critics would call it drug dealing.

Dr. Mark Del Monte, celebrating 30 years as the region’s leading chiropractor, has changed many lives and has improved the quality of life of even the most challenged patients.

Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Dr. Del Monte moved back to his hometown after attending the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, where the field was born in 1895. Back then, BJ Palmer hypothesized that manual manipulation of the spine could cure disease – a theory that Dr. Del Monte wholeheartedly embraces.

More than 10,000 patients have benefited from Dr. Del Monte’s work since first opening his office doors in 1986. He’s preformed more spinal adjustments than most people can count – and has done so without the cost (or destructive impacts) of surgery or pills.

“It should be tried first ahead of drugs and surgery,” Dr. Del Monte says, perhaps stating the obvious for many, but advice that sometimes falls on stubborn ears.

John Pallaci spent most of his career working at the Goodyear Tire factory, often performing repetitive and strenuous tasks that ware the body. Retired and feeling the effect of those many years on the production line, he searched for help. His intense lower back pain eventually brought him to Dr. Del Monte in 2000.

It’s been nearly 16 years and Mr. Pallaci’s only prescription for that once grueling back pain is a single chiropractic session every two weeks. He has never had surgery and doesn’t need pills.

“I’d recommend that anyone see him,” Pallaci says about Dr. Del Monte. “It may seem like a slow process at first but it works. I felt better with every visit. I couldn’t even stand up straight [before seeing Del Monte].”

Anne Palmer also suffered from lower back pain. She discovered Dr. Del Monte through a flyer in the mail. After her consultation she began a rigorous treatment of three sessions a week. After a month the treatment was shortened to twice a week; and now her once a week visit has restored a normalcy to her health and wellness.

Katherine Ruggiero, age 81, had a consistent pain in her neck and tried many traditional treatments but nothing worked. She refused to accept the pain so she turned to Dr. Del Monte.

“At first, I thought I couldn’t afford treatment, but then I thought I couldn’t afford not to,” she recalls. She began treatment in September of 2015.

“I feel 100% better,” she rejoices only six months later. “Everyone deserves to enjoy the miracle of better health.”

Suffering from sciatic nerve damage, Linda Warren turned to Dr. Del Monte in December of 2015. Her pain was so unbearable that she couldn’t sit upright on Christmas Day. She lost two weeks of work because of the immobility. For the first time in her life she felt debilitated.

“By the third week of treatment almost all of my pain was gone,” she reports.

Winnie Titus had hip problems that caused a shooting pain in her upper arm. In December of last year she met Dr. Del Monte and has experienced relief ever since.

“I feel good and the problem seems to be getting better,” Titus says.

The treatment length can be very widely from patient to patient, but for John, Anne, Katherine, Linda, and Winnie their experiences are success stories. That they are able to function properly day to day is, in many ways, a miracle unto itself. Their quality of life – they themselves argue – is far greater than it would be if they were forced into a life of dependence on prescription drugs.

The first patient of spinal manipulation was Harvey Lillard, a partially deaf janitor in an Iowa office building, who noticed remarkable improvements in his hearing after only a few days of chiropractic treatments.

Since then countless people suffering from ailments as ranged as irritable bowel syndrome, whiplash, migraines, osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, dizziness, adult scoliosis, attention deficit disorder, hypertension, baby colic, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal disorders, kinetic imbalance, epileptic seizures, menstrual cramps, pelvic and back pain during pregnancy, and asthma have been helped.

While no chiropractor can guarantee that your body will heal specific symptoms or diseases – or even how many visits would be required to achieve pain relief, he or she can guarantee that when your body is free of nerve interference it will work better.

Over 90% of patients receive favorable results. Rarely does a chiropractic patient report that it didn’t provide pain relief.

For merely $35 an office visit, Dr. Del Monte’s services are affordable to people of all walks of life. Dr. Del Monte takes pride in making Niagara Falls a healthier city and protecting people from the complicated alternatives of dangerous prescription drugs that too often impose uncertain burdens on unsuspecting people during their most vulnerable moments.

Dr. Del Monte is a primary healthcare provider – making him accessible without a referral, script, or the directive of your medical doctor. Appointments are often made directly through his office at 716-285-0391.

Far Too Often, Promises Have Proved Empty; Niagara Falls Needs Progress And Strategic Planning

By tony Farina · August 4, 2026

By Tony Farina Promises are nice and they bring hope for the future. But unfortunately, most of the time, promises have fallen flat for the City of Niagara Falls, some succeeding but many turning out to be empty promises and major disappointments. At this point, Niagara Falls doesn’t need more failed promises. What the city needs is progress to build a better future and a plan to make it work. City leadership must bring it all together. While there are promises to build a better future on the table and being talked about, like Centennial Park and the Niagara Digital

Governor Issues Response To McMurray’s Letter on Slag Concerns

By tony Farina · August 4, 2026

By Tony Farina The radioactive slag bubbling up across Niagara County in recent weeks, triggering state and federal testing and some remedial work and family relocations, is the ongoing and seemingly never-ending legacy of the environmental desecration of the past 100-plus years by massive corporations dumping toxic waste that was the subject of Christen Civiletto’s book Thundering Waters. “What we have again is an environmental storm,” said attorney and former Grand Island Supervisor Nate McMurray, a candidate for election to the 45th District State Assembly seat now open because of the retirement of Angelo Morinello. McMurray will run for the
