Will the council men’s club finally give Grandinetti her due?

By this time next week the council is expected to have elected a chairman. While we’ve gone on record repeatedly in support of Kristen Grandinetti becoming the 2016 chairwoman we continue to hear that current chairman Andrew Touma wants the keep the seat and that former chairman Charles Walker wants the seat back.
That’s unfortunate for the local Democratic Party because 2016 is shaping up to be “the year of the Democratic female candidate” with Hillary Clinton positioning herself for the White House. She’s the flagship of the Democratic female candidate movement, if you will.
When Kristen had the chair consecutively slipped out from under her by Walker in 2014 and Touma in 2015 she folded, both times, in her pursuit of the top spot by declining to nominate herself. This time we hope she has the courage of her convictions and fights to be named chairwoman. She’d be mistaken to wait for the councilmen to hold that door for her. She’s going to have to open it for herself and confidently step through.
It’s time for Kristen Grandinetti to take the helm.
