At approximately 02:15 am Saturday June 1, 2024, patrol responded to a report of an argument / disturbance at 1333 Vanderbilt Ave.  While patrol units were enroute it was learned that there may have been a stabbing incident at that location.  Upon arrival police located an unresponsive male on the floor.  NFFD and AMR responded to the scene to provide lifesaving measurers to the male, and he was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for further treatment where he was later pronounced deceased. On June 2, 2024, at approximately 2:08 pm, the Niagara Falls Police Department Crash Investigation Unit responded to the intersection of Hyde Park Blvd and Highland Avenue for a two-vehicle roll-over crash with entrapment. A 2018 Jeep operated by a 45-year-old Niagara Falls man was traveling northeast on Highland Avenue when it allegedly passed the stop sign and struck a 2013 Hyundai that had the right of way traveling southeast on Hyde Park Blvd. The Hyundai hit the curbing and turned over, entrapping the 55-year-old female driver. Other motorists who witnessed the crash stopped, called for help, and rendered aid.

Paonessa’s alleged drug den as it appeared on a recent real estate website “Nice doggy, Nice doggy” from Facebook On Saturday March 25, 2023, members of the Niagara Falls Police Department’s Narcotics Intelligence Division, supported by members of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, executed a Search Warrant at 2495 River Road. 33-year-old Michael Paonessa was taken into custody as the search uncovered 25 grams of suspected powdered fentanyl, 9 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 30 grams of suspected fentanyl tablets, packaging material and a police scanner. Paonessa was transported to the Niagara County Jail for multiple counts

At approximately 8:45 am on New Years Day, Niagara Falls Police responded to a home in the 2200 block of LaSalle Ave for a report of a man stabbed.  Upon arrival officers located a 33 year old Niagara Falls man suffering from a stab wound.  Despite efforts by AMR and Niagara Falls Fire Department, the victim succumbed to his injuries and pronounced dead at the scene. Bax, 35 years old of Niagara Falls, plead guilty in County Court today to 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The guilty plea was in satisfaction of an indictment charging Bax with the possession of 18 illegal firearms, many of which were “ghost guns” with no serial number, which Bax admitted to building himself.  The plea also covers a separate case in Niagara Falls City Court charging Bax with possessing cocaine.  The charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years and a
